Sylvain Amic Returns to FRAME Network as the New President of the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie, Paris

We extend our warmest congratulations to Sylvain Amic on his recent appointment as President of the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie, Paris, effective April 24, 2024. Along with this appointment we are proud to announce that the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie are now members of the FRAME network.

Many will remember Sylvain from his work with FRAME prior to his departure from the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen. “We are delighted the Musée d’Orsay and Musée de L’Orangerie have agreed to join our network, and especially pleased that their new president knows FRAME well and has served as a Director on our Board,” said William (Bill) Beekman, Co-President of FRAME in North America. “Sylvain is a loyal friend and fellow of FRAME, and his thoughts are essential to the future of museums and their place in our global society.  A cherished partner of both French and American museums, Orsay is a recognized leader on the contemporary issues that impact the entire museum sphere.  Additionally, I’d like to thank Christophe Leribault, who initiated this membership which marks an important chapter in FRAME’s history. Christophe is now the President of Château de Versailles.”  said Christelle Creff, Co-President, FRAME France and Cheffe du service des musées de France.

For Sylvain Amic, “…it is a great pleasure to be back in the FRAME network, with which I have been cooperating since its creation twenty-five years ago. At the time, I was curator at the Musée Fabre in Montpellier. I would like to thank my predecessor, Christophe Leribault, for having taken the initiative of joining FRAME. It is a great opportunity for the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie to strengthen their programmatic relationships and share best practices with big French museums outside Paris and important North American museum institutions.”

This recent addition to our network follows the recommendations outlined in the FRAME strategic plan, which was unanimously adopted at the October 2023 annual conference. FRAME will continue to deepen and reinvigorate the network by increasing its membership over the next five years.
