The Triumph of French Painting: 17th century masterpieces from the museums of FRAME

Portland Art Museum, October 11, 2003 – January 4, 2004

The exhibition, a selective presentation of masterpieces, is drawn from the strengths of the permanent collections of both French and American FRAME museums. While the French museums are rich in paintings of this era, many of the finest examples can be found in their American counterparts. By keeping this a tightly knit exhibition of approximately 35 works it will be possible to present only the very highest level of painting over a century of extraordinary achievement.
