After more than three years of separation, FRAME members were pleased to reunite in-person in Marseille. The 2022 Annual Conference was attended by 25 members from 12 North American museums and 62 members from 15 French museums, along with FRAME Board members who participated in-person or remotely and other invited VIPs. In total, there were more than 100 participants.<\/p>

The theme of the 2022 conference was Re-Imagining Our Future. <\/em>FRAME invited two inspiring keynote speakers to open the discussion. The first, Andr\u00e1s Sz\u00e1nt\u00f3, Ph.D., writer, researcher and consultant for cultural institutions, presented different ways in which art museums, without abandoning their traditional roles of collecting, preserving, interpreting and displaying works of art, were finding new strategies to welcome, engage with and expand their audiences. Our other keynote speaker, Pap Ndiaye, Ph.D., historian, former Executive Director of the Palais de la Porte dor\u00e9e in Paris and the newly appointed Minister of Education in the French Government, reviewed the challenges of DEI initiatives in art museums on both sides of the Atlantic. He pointed out what French and American cultural institutions can learn from their respective experiences and histories.<\/p>

FRAME is most grateful to the City of Marseille and Nicolas Misery, the newly appointed Director of the Museums of Marseille, as well as his team for hosting the conference. We were joined by prestigious guests throughout the event, including the Ambassador of the United States of America to France, Denise Campbell Bauer, and her husband Steven Bauer, as well as the U.S. Consulate General in Marseille, Kristen K. Grauer, who also hosted a reception for us at her seaside residence on the last night of the conference. In addition, the First Deputy Mayor of Marseille, Mich\u00e8le Rubirola, and the Deputy Mayor in charge of Culture, Jean-Marc Coppola, joined our Grand Reception at the Ch\u00e2teau Bor\u00e9ly.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
